The First Day

Oh my gosh, how do adults do this everyday? I thought that school hours are bad, but this was ridiculous! Not that I did not enjoy my first day, but all that I can help but think of while writing this post is how bad I want to go to sleep. Before I finally decide to give into this looming cloud of slumber that has shadow me since approximately 3:43 pm, I think that I should recap the events of today.

After watching the riveting tale of Evolutionary Theory for two periods in AP Bio, there was only one thing on my mind on the way to the Atlanta Radio Korea... "OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?!? I DON'T SPEAK KOREAN." Well, to be fair,  I probably speak more Korean than the average American, but that doesn't exactly say much seeing how the average American probably only knows "강남 스타일/Gangnam Style" (and only one of those words is really Korean). Needless to say, the 30 minute car ride consisted on an incessant cycle of panic attack then cram then panic then cram and so and so forth until the car came to a stop and the sign in big bold letters remind me that "THIS IS REAL." The walk up those stairs I am pretty sure I saw God like a golden ribbon in the sky or maybe it was just a cloud of pollen--either way I was scared out of my mind and as soon I opened the door I just bowing to everyone...My language skills might not be to par but please believe that I will at least be polite.

After about an hour and a half hiding behind my desk hiding behind drowning my self in the work assigned to me, Hae Moon, my project advisor told me to first of all come down and then second of all slow down because I was burning through my final, culminating project in a matter of minutes. He also told me not to worry about the surrounding conversation because the women were just gossiping about their children and buying new homes. What a relief.... Soon after, I started talking about my plans and why I was here in the first place. Once I told them that all the Korean, I knew I had taught my self from dramas online and other online materials, the reaction I got was refreshing. Everyone in the office started trying to help me learn more! I am super excited one of the reporters here is actually a Korean language teacher and even offered to bring me materials to practice. I think I am going to really like it here!
